On Friday I posted an open thread asking people what they would do if they were Mike Reinfeldt.  Here is my plan:

1. Get Fat Albert Back

The Titans have got to have Haynesworth on the field in 2008.  Ideally you can work out a long term deal, but if not you slap the franchise tag on him but make sure he knows you are committed to him long term.

2.  Get A Big T

Tight end is another position where the Titans are going to need help this offseason.  The best thing you can do for a young quarterback is give him a safety valve at the tight end position.  Bo Scaife has proven that he can make some catches in this league, but he doesn't have the ability to make the game changing play.  Scaife finished the season with with 46 catches for 421 yards and 1 touchdown.

Who will represent their conference in the Super Bowl?

That sobbing sound you hear late Sunday afternoon will be me as I slowly realize there’s only one meaningful football game left until next fall.

:::sigh:::

The national pundits are all making their picks and breakdowns for the big games Sunday afternoon.  Locally, TMan has made his picks and explains why he feels each team will win.

I was sort of right

I went 2 for 2 this weekend on my picks.  I can’t believe the Colts lost.  I guess it just kinda needed to happen that way.  They were hurt all season just didn’t look solid yesterday.  I really really don’t like the Chargers though and I hope New England goes Buffalo all over them.  On the other side though, how about the Pac and the G-Men?  I like either team in the NFC, so that’s pretty much where I’m pulling the rest of the year. So we will see. What di

To paraphrase Dennis Green: They are who we thought they were.

The Titans showed on Sunday in San Diego what they have shown us all season long.  An inconsistent offense with inconsistent quarterback play, and a defense that played well enough to keep that offense in the game.  I am not sure what happened to the secondary in the 2nd half, but they are not the reason the Titans lost.

Update [2008-1-8 9:3:46 by Jimmy]: This was originally posted by Zack in the diaries, but I figured I would put it here so everyone would see it and chime in. The season is over, so I am ok with us talking about this for a little bit. He is still a part of this organization. I will give my thoughts in the comments. (Make sure you click the read more link to see his whole argument)

First, I would like to start with what I feel was the best quote after our disappointing loss last nig

The Titans and the Chargers meet again in the first round of the (NFL) playoffs.

Seems that Matthew thinks those dudes with the lightning bolts are going to win, and, we've got a little bet going.

OK, so we don't even know who our quarterback is going to be, and, there's no one left to actually catch the passes the mystery quarterback will be throwing.

Details.

Matthew, get ready to sing the praises of my hometown.

I’m thinking of live blogging this afternoon’s AFC Wild Card playoff game between the Tennessee Titans and the San Diego (boo! hiss!) Chargers.

It should be a wild ride. Almost no one is giving us a shot in hell of knocking off the Chargers—in fact, many are quite adamant it’ll be a blowout— which should make the upset that much sweeter.

So the playoffs have begun.  Yesterday the Seahawks defeated Washington and the Jaguars defeated the Steelers.  Neither team looked especially good doing so but they move on.  The Titans are in the hunt for the first time since 2003.  My picks:
