The Tennessee Titans took another step in suring up their offensive line today by signing right tackle David Stewart to a six-year contract extension.  Stewart's deal is worth $38.9 million with $10 million in guaranteed money. 

The Hamilton County Board of Education will be deliberating on whether to renew Superintendent Jim Scales' contract tonight, even though that contract is in force for two more years.

So I took my daughter to see the Predators tangle with the Dallas Stars tonight, with the Preds taking a 6-3 beating and basically coming unglued in the 2nd & 3rd periods. In particular, I was going to come home and rip on David Legwand, who seems to vanish as soon as he crosses center ice with the puck; often it seemed like he'd carry it into the offensive zone, and then just look for a safe path to the boards rather than actually drive to the net and create a scoring chance.

The Titans have fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow after three seasons.

The Titans finished 21st in the NFL in total offense last season under Chow, who said Coach Jeff Fisher delivered the news by phone.

“I’m as shocked as the next guy,’’ Chow said Tuesday. “He said he wanted to go in a different direction."

Coach Jeff Fisher released a statement:

This is a huge step in the right direction. Should be only a matter of time before the other carriers follow suit. (Note, last time I checked, Sprint already did not require a contract extension if you upgrade your existing plan; downgrades on the other hand, or switching to a different plan -- gotcha!)

Starting next month, customers who change a wireless calling plan will no longer be required to extend their current contact with AT&T or sign a new contract.
