So, the big buzz this week has to do drilling oil off-shore in order to lower our gas prices at home.

Well, that's a sham. It will take 7+ years for that oil to hit the market and, even then, it will be sold on a global market which means that US oil won't really be any cheaper for us than Saudi or Venezuelan oil.

Oil companies are engaged in an orgy of money in which they claim to need their profits (from now $5 a gallon gas) for more exploration, yet their biggest expense increases went to buying back their own stocks.

One of my favourite holiday traditions is watching the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life”. Of course, the film is pretty darned depressing right up until the end, but the whole “friends are the point” message usually cements the holiday cheer and makes everyone feel better about the presents they didn’t get.

Bob Tuke is is trying to shake down Democrats again today in an email. This time, he castigates Lamar Alexander for cozying up to Big Oil. And what can you do about this outrage?

"Help send a message to Lamar Alexander—we're not going to let you get away with this political peddling—by donating $25 dollars today." Tuke goes on to slap Alexander for "foolish pandering."
