sweet tea

Journalist turned think-tanker, Trent “Sweet Tea” Seibert, is turning journalist yet again.

I’m leaving Tennessee for Arizona this morning (see Tour Page for details).  I’ve been charged by my seven year-old with the task of taking a picture of a cactus while I’m away.  But she’s half-hearted about it, knowing that the perfect cactus specimen is no match for what we just left in Cherokee National Park.

I am starting a Three part series today which will dive into detail about this area that I call home.   I’ve entitled it “I’m a Southerner, a Tennessean and a Nashvillian.” 

The City Cafe in Murfreesboro sees no problem with the intersection of sweet tea and politics; thus during every election cycle they hold a straw poll to figure out who will win the upcoming races on the ballot.

My name is Shaun and I’m driving five hours today for Christian chicken.

Today, in the city of Carmel, Indiana, a new Chick-fil-A is opening.  And I will be there, guitar in hand, strumming and singing for ninety minutes in exchange for free Chick-fil-A for an entire year.

Every night this week I’m driving an hour to backwoods Tennessee to play a few songs and hang out with twenty high schoolers from our church.  It’s youth camp.  Dinner and clean-up and bath time and bed time routines are all Becky’s this week.  And on top of all this she’s not feeling real great.

The Deep South Moms blog (imagine Barry White saying that softly) officially launched today and while we’re not serving up fried chicken, grits, or sweet tea, we are serving up some fine home cooked blogging.
