Here's a question that I've been pondering. Within my congregation, we don't "elect" elders per se. But we submit their names as people we think would be good to serve in those roles. If enough submissions are put in for a person, that person or persons agree to or not to stand as elders.

Just got off the phone with Jerry from Compassion International‘s office in Colorado. Jerry is working hard to help pastors talk about poverty in their churches and let Christians in churches know what they can do (with Compassion) about child poverty. THis called ”church engagement.”
