As a superstitious old jock I’ve assiduously avoided blogging about the Tar Heels hoops team this season in an irrational fear of derailing their drive towards history. In the back of my mind I knew it was more than likely the time would come when I would no longer bear the responsibility of staying silent as the cracks in the armor have been apparent for months.

This is the day of the big announcement. I believe I was abducted by aliens because I’ve officially lost a year of my life. Remember when I said I couldn’t remember 8th grade? Eighth grade occurred in one of the years we lived in North Dakota. And Mom told me I got another “fact” wrong again yesterday. We lived in NoDak-Land (as we called it) from 1971 (not 72) to 1975 (not 76). So there is a year missing somewhere in my life.
