All you have to do is read the comment sections of just about any newspaper in the country when a story about homelessness appears to understand that a significant portion of our fellow community members - at least of those who are able to read newspapers, anyway - are woefully ignorant about many of the issues dealing with homelessness.

More proof that people experiencing homelessness should not be stigmatized, ostracized, marginalized, silenced and forgotten....

A Canadian rule has placed homosexuals (or whatever the latest politically correct term is) in a rather bad group.

The restrictions, which also cover drug addicts, prisoners, prostitutes and people who have had tattoos or body piercings in the last 12 months using shared needles, came into effect last month.

Now this group is the ones who CANNOT donate organs for transplant.

Amazingly, my trip to my hometown this weekend is no different than previous ones. It brings out all kinds of thoughts and emotions. As usual, I ran in to many people that I know and I would like to share a few of their stories:

Friend #1- Middle aged man, wife recently passed away due to brain tumor. He used to be a calm drunk, now he is a raging drunk.

Friend #2- Younger than me, was an alcoholic in high school. No different now.
