Brandi and I are spending the day getting ready for our annual party. For years we’ve hosted a 4th of July party with friends. Each year our backyard fireworks show gets bigger and better. I may try to get some video for you tonight.

SPRING HILL — The city’s first ever full-scale fireworks show is scheduled for the night of July 4th at The Crossings of Spring Hill.

Though the sale and ignition of fireworks in the city limits is banned, the law will be lifted between noon-11 p.m. Friday to allow residents to celebrate the national holiday, Fire Chief Jim Swindle said.

For the last two nights I have stood with my neck in a fixed position as I gaze skyward at perhaps one of the things that gets me more instantly excited than anything else. From the first i-think-that-might-give-me-a-heart-attack-and-i-think-i-like-it boom until the paralyzing grand finale, I have realized that my childhood fascination with fireworks still looms large in my life. It is resurrected once/maybe twice a year (depending on where New Year's lands me) and for some reason, watching
