Just got back from a trip down to see Sheryl's brother and his wife down in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. A great trip as always. So, including the trip up to Flint, MI for my grandmother's funeral (1150 miles), the trip to South Dakota (3,000 miles), and this trip (900 miles), that's 5,000 miles in three months. And that doesn't include the flying I did with Kinsey to Colorado and the flight I took

I could get used to this

Parts of it, anyway.

This morning, I had to do one of those standard fasting visits to the doctor’s office. No big deal; I was in at 9:30 and out within the hour, and I’ve never minded giving a little blood.

The Butcher has a beautiful, if slightly crazy, friend who we all love.  Probably most of you are familiar with her grandmother, though that’s neither here nor there.

She’s talking about having a baby, just because her last name is so cool.  And I was all like “Shoot, you should have a baby with the Butcher!”

I am a caretaker. I make people soup and fetch people crackers when they're sick. When my grandmother lived with us, it didn't matter I was a teenager, I took care of her. Dad's heart problems, yep, helped nurse him back to health while Mom went to work. My brother had a terrible car accident, who waited by his bedside, me again. I need to be needed and to feel useful.

You can have your home baked bread and other foodie fineries. In MY version of heaven, there is always the smell of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls baking.

And West Tennessee BBQ cooking. And my dad’s hamburgers on the grill.

There is a country just ninety miles from the shores of the United States that I have never been to. The Republic of Cuba is the home of my grandmother and countless uncles, aunts and cousins scattered throughout Florida and points north. I am not allowed to travel to Cuba because there is an economic embargo on that country which has been in place for almost fifty years.

I am probably older than most of the bloggers -- with the exception of Bo. That means there has been a lot more for me to remember. It doesn't mean that I remember it all. Often I wish I could remember more. Occasionally I think back to my childhood and remember things that I would love to share with someone.
