R. Neal is putting up for discussion the topic of the scheduling of local elections. Should local election be scheduled whenever possible to coincide with state and federal elections in order to drive turnout for local elections or no?
Local elections have notoriously low turnout when they stand alone. Unfortunate, but true.

Did not know that. From the AP:
Thompson said there are about 3.3 million active registered voters in Tennessee. The state’s population is just over 6 million.
There are 400,000 inactive voters, who will be purged from the rolls after two federal elections without casting ballots.
About 485,000 people voted in Tennessee’s 2004 presidential primary.
