In definance of the latest Courthouse/local media stereotype of neighborhood advocates as some kind of elite group that opposes developers at every turn, I was out doing yard work and picking up some neighborhood litter rather than making my way to tonight's council meeting to oppose developers just to make them mad.

A local pastor in Salemtown called me tonight to say that the owner of a small single-serve beer market at the corner of 7th Avenue, North and Garfield Street was shot at the store tonight. He told me that victim was in bad shape. Initial reports indicate that it happened between 6:30 and 7:20. No word on whether a suspect is in custody. I'll post more details as they come in.

A former resident of the Union Rescue Mission who has a buglary and cocaine-related rap sheet has been linked through a DNA-match of blood left at the Metro Office Building broken into on Christmas Eve. The suspect is still on the lam.
