The answer is a BIG NO-WAY....I would be glad to rethink my position if TDOT eliminated the gas tax with a Constitutional amendment in place that would forbid its resurrection as long as toll road fees exist.

Yesterday on the radio, we interviewed Alex Moseley, candidate for State Representative in the 33rd District. Mr. Moseley is taking on incumbent Democrat State Representative Jim Hackworth.

Alex told us of a gas tax bill that Hackworth had sponsored and thank goodness, did not pass. The summary of House Bill 1225 is as follows:

Bredesen Longs For Higher Gas Tax

The Daily News Journal report on Gov. Phil Bredesen's speech to the Murfreesboro Rotary Club includes mention of Bredesen's support for increasing the state's gas tax.

Bredesen also spoke about the eventual need for a possible increase to the 22-cent per gallon gas tax to help pay for roads.
