What is Labor Day?

Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September. The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create "a day off for the working man".

I believe we should create a new federal holiday, known as National Hangover Appreciation Day.

And, I’m just sayin’, but I think today’s as good a day as any to celebrate it. Recommended festivities include sleeping late, stumbling around in yesterday’s clothes, and hanging out with the cat.

My World Wildlife Fund calendar tells me today is Presidents’ Day. What this really means to me is that the trip I’ve been meaning to make to the bank will have to wait, that I won’t get any mail, my friends with gub’mint jobs are off work today, and that there are lots of “sales” at furniture stores , car dealerships, and airlines. Other than that, this “holiday” doesn’t really mean much to me. Does that make me a bad Amurrcan?
