An anchorman interacts with the news of the day in a new way:

Usually, I’m detached from much of what I report on our newscasts. If you get too invested, you lose objectivity. Not to mention, it could drive you crazy.

But now the bad news has hit home.

Because Tom Brokaw has been named moderator of Meet The Press

I was surprised that Obama and Clinton let ABC anchorman Charlie Gibson get away with several out right lies in framing his moronic questions in the debate last night. I even found myself talking to the TV, telling Obama to call Gibson's sorry ass on this big lie,

"Given that every time capital gains taxes are reduced, revenues go up, will you swear, right now, not to raise capital gains taxes?"

There are about 50 reasons I adore Tom Brokaw. Today, at Mediabistro, there is a post about Brokaw and Ron Burgandy (Will Ferrell’s character from The Anchorman) who were on stage for Funny or Die over the weekend.

Burgandy said

You have an employee in your administration who has been identified by federal agencies to have violated rules and funding protocol, an employee with conflicts of interest that are so numerous as to confuse the average person. She can be one of two things: incompetent or corrupt.
