John McCain has brought some folks to his Arizona ranch to contemplate his vice presidential slot. I think whoever McCain picks will tell us a lot about who McCain is right now. During the 90s and especially during his 2000 primary campaign, McCain was The Maverick.

I have not been someone who has put much thought into the theory of evolution. A few years back (within 5 years) I heard a discussion on talk radio between a Darwinist and the talk show host (I think it might have been Michael Medved). The lingering thought which stayed with me was scientists have no answer to the question of how that first cell came into being.

The way I figure it, I get a free bottle of Jack Daniels every year. Age has a way of diminishing consumption, or at least shifting preferences, meaning I drink far less Jack than I did in my earlier days, but it remains my favorite booze for the occasional celebratory shot.
