A listener called me early this morning (even before I hit the air) and asked me if there would be mail delivery today. I paused and thought about the date and couldn’t come up with a reason government offices and services would be closed today.

Cameras are not allowed in the government offices without permission.

I understand the idea behind that rule in areas where security is an issue–for example filming the guardhouse and front gate area at the entry to a military installation should be prohibited. But bringing a camera into a Congressman’s local office?

Oh well then...

Persons unknown have managed to break into two government offices over the Christmas holiday and gain access to our contact information and even our Social Security numbers. Both the Davidson County Election Commission and the Department of Safety (just a short car ride along Murfreesboro Road as AC Kleinheider illustrates) were hit.

I heard somewhere the a state in our Union was having budget troubles, and all government offices had to shut down until a budget could be approved by the ruling body. Before this, partisan officials announced the the other party was impeding progress in the "budget talks" and leading the state to a government shutdown STATE OF EMERGENCY (emphasis mine)...
