In restoring the voting rights to convicted felons after they've successfully completed their sentence, society tells them they've been re-accepted into the community. This is critically important for felons who truly do want to make the changes in their lives they believe will lead them to a "normal" existence.

I've read damned near everything I could find on the death of George Carlin and nothing - nothing at all - sums him up so eloquently, so poignantly, so perfectly as John Nichols' piece here. Lordy I miss him now more than when I first heard he passed and the thought of his voice being silenced just sends dark chills down my spine.
