According to Politico.com, Senator McCain will announce his choice for VEEP on August 29, one day after the Democratic Convention.

Normally there is a significant bump after a convention, and this is McCain's way of trying to minimize Obama's convention bump.

McCain will make his announcement on his 72nd birthday in Ohio.
