There's this misapprehension everyone seems to have that Southern Women are docile creatures with big hair and Daddy issues who need nothing more than an endless diet of frou frou and a fainting couch. Did I mention that we all grew up wanting to marry our horses or Atticus Finch? Well.

Do you ever look at your little girl and have your breath nearly taken away by suddenly seeing her as a teenager?

There was a very nice piece yesterday on Hockey Night in Canada about the rise of hockey blogs, focusing in particular on the group centered around the Washington Capitals (where owner Ted Leonsis has fostered their growth), and ending with host Ron McLean giving some of our favorite sites some coveted face time on hockey's biggest stage.

DH and I headed to Sofie's Bistro for brunch this morning. It was our first time, after being hit over the head repeatedly by good word-of-mouth. They do a stellar job with brunch, so we'll have to go back for dinner. I got the special, a frittata with filet mignon, Italian sausage, mushrooms, ditalini, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil.
