The question is simple. Why do so many churches meet on a Wednesday? I have tried to find it online, but have come up with nothing. A lot of hits on "Ash Wednesday, but nothing that goes into detail on the history of why there is a common meeting among so denominations on that specific weekday.

I had forgotten until just now that this is that weird day where Lincoln was shot, the Titanic sank and the Donner Party set out for the West. This is an historically bewitched day, if you ask me. There are two ways to count the 40 days of Lent. If you get out a calendar and start with Ash Wednesday and you count every day, you will see that Lent goes through Palm Sunday.

I talked to my dad last night, who was on his way out the door to help with the Ash Wednesday service.  His predicament, as predicted, has turned into a giant battle over whether he should have the surgery at Carle or at Loyola.

My new bifocals came in today, and I rushed over to Wal-Mart to get them. I knew my old bifocals were scratched, and I suspect my prescription has changed a little, but I was still surprised at the difference. I can see! Clearly! Far, far away!
