The Financial Times reported today that EMI is working on its own portal through which it can sell music and video content directly to consumers. Some aspects of the site will be free. The launch is expected before Christmas.

I am still not on the vertical search bandwagon. I know it’s the latest buzz word in the search engine marketing community, but I am not sold that it’s the Google Killer as some would believe.

In 1998 Texas firebrand Molly Ivins did her best to warn of the costs of Bill Clinton failing to veto a bad banking deregulation bill. While she is gone, her wisdom was revived last week at the Atlanta J-C:

Although there are still a lot of bad mortgages out there, the real problem in the economy is the credit crisis. The Fed has made available, through its normal means, around $400 billion already in credit. Unfortunately, nobody’s biting on this money. Banks and other credit issuers aren’t certain who is a safe borrower and who isn’t. Not on an individual basis, mind you.
