Scene/Bites contributor Melissa Wozniak had press credentials for last week's historic (zzzz) Debate '08 at Belmont University. On the eve of tomorrow's last presidential debate, she shares some of her memories of last week's Big Carnival:

Jason Ringenberg and Warner Hodges are a Red Bull-fueled wonder to behold. They were the only two of the four original Scorchers up for thrashing and grinning their way through an hour-and-45-minute set (not including the encore) at the Mercy Lounge a few hours after getting their Americana lifetime achievement award at the Ryman.

Kid Rock, Jessica Simpson and her friend/assistant Casey hit the honky-tonks Monday night.

Time was every restaurant and honky-tonk was filled with lead singers and pedal steel players waiting tables, slinging hash or tending bar to make a living until their ship came in. It was always “just temporary” and that elusive meeting to “ink the deal” was just around the corner.

I heard through that most reliable of gossip mills--the supermarket--that Cher has moved to Nashville.
