• British retailer HMV reported improved revenues in its most recent quarter. Music sales were down 7% as the company increased its emphasis on video games. (Bloomberg)

• EMI has signed a new deal that will its joint venture partner, Typhoon. EMI will sell to Typhoon its interests in Typhoon Music in China, Gold Label in Hong Hong and EMI Music Taiwan. Typhoon will be the exclusive licensee for EMI physical product in China and Taiwan. (Music Week)

• This decade, according to the new BPI Statistical Handbook, the number of CD albums purchased for less than £10 increased to 71.8% from 39.1%. In 2007, the average CD cost £8.63, a 3.6% drop from the previous year. (Music Week)
