The Tennessee/Arkansas basketball game in the SEC Tournament in Atlanta has been moved from the Georgia Dome to the campus of Georgia Tech due to the tornado that hit downtown Atlanta last night.
Thudddd…what was that loud noise?

It’s a number ONE ranking clanking to the ground. It’s always a pleasure to beat the Orange in basketball. It’s always fun to see a number one team come into Memorial Gym and leave with their ranking tucked between their legs. But, when it’s the UT crew coming in with the number 1 necklace, it’s the making for a deliriously happy evening.
Shortest top ranking ever?

The roundball players of the University of Tennessee were named the number one team in the nation only about 30 hours ago as I write. They just lost to 14th-ranked Vanderbilt 72-69 at VU's Memorial Gym, where top-ranked teams go to die. Vandy has now beat, in a row, the last four NCAA pole sitters to play there.
Was Yoo-Tee's reign at numero uno the shortest ever in NCAA basketball? Anyone know?

You know, I have nothing but love for my fellow SEC fans who happen to pull for Vanderbilt, but even y'all have to admit this is a bit of a head-scratcher.
In case you missed it, the number one UT Vols will be in town tonight to take on Vanderbilt. The game is being carried nationally via ESPN and all I can hope for is that somehow Dick Vitale isn't part of the broadcast team.

If you live by the black and gold you can’t really have any kind of sports crush on that Orange team dwelling roughly 200 miles east of Nashville. A true Vandy fan chortles at the Knoxville police blotter’s daily UT football arrest report. We may respect their coaches (well, at least their basketball coaches) and the talent that continues to roll uphill (somehow), but we love it when they lose.
Savoring the win.

Another big sports weekend for the Nashville and the Volunteer State as a whole. The number one women’s basketball team will be in town tomorrow for a sold out game against the Lady Commodores. The Vandy women are confident, esp. after the Lady Vols blew a nineteen point lead against LSU Thursday evening. They seem to think playing Tennessee now might be a good thing.
