I just read Newscoma’s post about her strep throat related hearing loss.  Hers is temporary, but it’s still weird.  I lost my hearing temporarily once.  She can describe what the experience is like better than I can, but my story is still worth telling.

This issue of not being able to hear, well, it’s bothering me.

One of my favorite things about being a dad to three boys is trying to figure out their differences. They are all motivated by different things. They receive and give love in different ways.

A couple of weeks ago, I went out and saw Iron Man. I loved it. But it occurred to me that I don’t go to the movies, or even watch movies, anywhere near as often as I used to. As a teenager and into my early 20’s, I would see, on average, a movie a week.

Listen, Hollywood, let’s talk for a minute. I know you’re out of ideas, I know. I’ve seen the trailers for Alvin and the Chipmunks, Bewitched, and I’ve recently seen that He-Man shall return to the big screen.

You write something sugary sweet and heartfelt about your children, and then they drive you insane.

I’ll spare you the details, but an Alvin & the Chipmunks DVD from the movie rental store almost became roadkill because two little girls were fighting over who was going to hold it.

Wilco, Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Band of Horses, Silversun Pickups… I’ve seen each of these artists live and I consider myself a true fan of them all. When it comes to a couple of them (Wilco, Ryan Adams), I’m as diehard as they come.
