Not too long ago, I was in Dave's camp down on the Cumberland and was just amazed at what he'd been able to accomplish with his site using dumpster items and less money than I spend on a weekend going to a Saturday matinée with the wife.

Can there be anything more stupid, more pathetic than a bunch of young men killing each other over something as asinine as "malehood honor?" I'll bet as the life slipped from that man's body he didn't give two [bleep]s about his "honor" and wished he'd just turned the other cheek and gone home.

If this is what it takes to create awareness of just how difficult it is to survive as an impoverished person in the world, I hope everyone who has never spent a day wondering where their next meal is coming from will devote some time and take a "plunge2poverty."

A great many of my clients are "older" individuals who've spent some hard days and nights on the streets of this country. For all her prosperity and opportunity, America has a whole lotta folks living in abject poverty.

Now, I'm not making excuses for anyone here; a good portion of the poverty suffered by folks is self induced as a direct result of very bad choices and extremely bad behaviors, but it gets harder and harder to recover from one's ignorance and stupidity as one ages.

"People say to me you should have stronger policies to keep people out. But if we don't help them, who's going to?"

It boggles the mind to think that we can talk of human beings in terms of "warehousing" them; it misleads the mind into thinking we can suspend animation until we arrive at some real solutions.

Meanwhile, at the warehouse, lives continue to advance, along with the misery, pain and sadness that abject poverty brings to one's existence...
