Hate, hate, hate to hear that Delaney Bramlett died in LA yesterday.  I just happened to see his daughter Bekka on tv the other day, singing her ass off.  Good lord, Delaney, Bonnie and their youngun are the epitome of Blue Eyed Soul.

Feel Good Friday

Today, just for the heck of it, I’m doing two versions of the same song. One by someone who, through skill and luck has become something like the poetic soul of my generation (and the song’s original author), Bob Dylan. The second version is done by a transplant who’s become a local guitar slinger, Eric Clapton.

Just had to post this

I seem to start looking for FGF posts earlier and earlier in the week (well, since I take Friday off these days, that’s logical). While I was looking I found this. It’s from the Concert for George, a concert in memorium for George Harrison done in 2002.

In the case of Otis Rush, like many other bluesmen, Mississippi's loss was Chicago's gain. Otis was really instrumental in defining the prototypical Chicago Blues sound.

I first got hip to Otis through a searing version on John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers' "Beano" album, with the newcomer Eric Clapton on guitar. Let's watch Otis do "All Your Love (I Miss Loving)":

I'll show her.

My wife has been entering a MasterCard sponsored contest where the winner gets to win one of three music stars. Of course, one of the three stars is Jon Bon Jovi. The other two are Kenny Chesney and Eric Clapton.

She's been entering my name as well to increase her chances of winning. You just know I'm gonna piss her off and pick Clapton if it's my name that comes up as the winner.

I am unusually awake for a Friday morning, listening to music and glancing around various places on the Internet. The playlist is as mellow as possible (John Mayer and Eric Clapton soulful guitar), with a bit more up tempo material (Cold Play, Matchbox 20) to get the heart pumping a bit faster.
