In July of 2004, Estelle Richardson, an inmate at the CCA Metro Detention Facility was found unresponsive after 4 CCA guards had forcibly removed her from a solitary confinement cell. A few hours later Estelle died. She had a fractured skull, 4 broken ribs and a damaged liver.

Cold temperatures and a perception of the danger of staying in shelters is combining to kill our fellow brothers and sisters living on the street. While we've been fortunate here in Nashville this winter - so far - around the country others have not faired nearly as well....
