It is slightly bumming to me of late that I am not the person I used to be. I just got done reading a bunch of blog entries where people were taking their bikes out on greenways and whatnot and riding gleefully and being out and it occurs to me once again that the ways in which my life is changing are not all wonderful.

I’m learning a lot, watching the world through the experience of my very old grandmother. It’s true that every day is a gift, and you can learn something every day. But sometimes it’s hard to be grateful for that gift when the day brings pain, or loneliness or isolation. And things you learn, you might just as soon not know.

Last night was Latin dancing, and some of the stars were steaming hot, while others were too mechanical. The Rumba is a dance that is an expression of love making. The Samba captures the spirit of the Brazilian Carnival.

I’ll start by saying, I really like Whole Foods. Not for shopping, but that’s not the point – it’s a lifestyle experience, not a grocery store. Case in point: my old buddy Jim went looking for stoneground grits, and the helpful clerk kept showing him the polenta.
