A new study released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Wednesday ranks Tennessee 50th when comparing infant mortality to a mother's education.

They study says Tennessee has the highest rate of uneducated mothers whose babies die before their first birthday.

Metro Health officials said they aren't surprised by Tennessee's last place ranking.

Below is a press release from Dr. Bill Paul of the Metro Health Department
informing area residences of District 29 of their plans to spray this week. I
am not fond of spraying but I do believe that ample notification for folks like
my son who has asthma can be informed and not go outside.

WSMV television put up an online poll following their report that the Metro Health Department is concerned that IF the English First charter amendment passes they MIGHT NOT be able to do business in other languages. The report points out that the classes they hold for employees and the inspections are currently now conducted in other languages.

I attended the second meeting with members of the Metro Health Department's peeps charged with providing mobile screening and vaccinations for children in the Nashville area.  Talk about a caring, compassionate and driven group of folks!

As you may recall from my earlier post, the goals were lofty:

For all the lip service paid to "protecting the children," and "no child left behind," we don't spend much time, effort or money on or about kids who are homeless. I realize they are typically difficult to find but that should never serve as the excuse as to why we aren't able to provide more and better resources to assist them.
