Last week, I quoted NBJ Editor Lance Williams as saying that Nashville needs to do a better job connecting its capital with its entrepreneurial community. At least one local venture capitalist, John Chadwick, agrees.

There is a growing number of online startups catering to independent musicians and searching for successful alternatives to the record label model. And the money continues to flow. But it will be a natural process of evolution for some of these startups to wither away. There will be too much money backing too many companies making too little revenue from too many unpopular artists.

It seems like there are a blue million technology groups in Nashville these days and I love it. There is also lots of talk today about all of the different pieces and how they fit together. This is a post about how I see it.

Although we were directly affected by the two hour outage of Amazon Web Services (AWS), it still wasn’t the end of the world. I read several blog entries and comments about “not putting all of your eggs in one basket” and “how cloud computing was unreliable.” However, what other baskets should I put my eggs in, and how would that make my website or Web application more reliable?
