Jason Ringenberg and Warner Hodges are a Red Bull-fueled wonder to behold. They were the only two of the four original Scorchers up for thrashing and grinning their way through an hour-and-45-minute set (not including the encore) at the Mercy Lounge a few hours after getting their Americana lifetime achievement award at the Ryman.

During my late high school days I fully discovered a band that would help shape my musical tastes for years to come. Sure I knew many Pink Floyd songs but just those ones that every radio station plays all of the time. I am talking about the early tracks. The tracks that were highly experimental and psychelic and keyboard heavy.

When I headed down to the Nashville Cream 2nd Anniversary bash at the Mercy Lounge on Saturday night, I was curious how the evening's theme was going to come off. The idea of local bands covering other local bands was clever, but you had to wonder if it'd come off like a private joke that most of the crowd weren't in on.
