I will be gone next week on a long-awaited, much-needed vacation.  The other writers here are plenty intelligent, articulate, and prolific, so their witty banter, candor, and insights about the goings-on in LaV will be a hoot, I’m sure.  

Miel, chef Jimmy and Seema Phillips' long-awaited tiny bistro on the outskirt of Sylvan Park, is scheduled to open tonight with a menu that includes escargots and frog legs in garlic-parsley butter, slow-roasted Scottish Salmon, pan-seared red snapper, salad Nicoise of ahi tuna, cheese plate, duck breasts, iron-seared rib eye, roasted eggplant with lentils and ratatouille, penne with chanterell

Want to meet new people, hear new (old) music, eat, uh...new ice cream? Head to Bobbie's Dairy Dip at 5301 Charlotte today (Saturday, June 28) around 6 p.m. for the half-century-old burger stand's Ice Cream Social. Order up a hot fudge cake (two s[bleep]s, please) and stake out a spot to hear Caitlin Rose, James Wallets, Sawgrass, Danger and The Steel Cut Oats play, starting at 7 p.m.

I'm still recovering from Bonnaroo. It's fun, but for an old goat like me, it's a lot of work to be out in the sun and mostly on your feet for 8-12 hours a day for three days straight. I'm lucky I have a desk job.

Is “I Drink Your Milkshake!” destined to become the new big catchphrase? I don’t know about you, but since the SNL folks set it to a cute little tune, I’ve been singing it for days. And I haven’t even seen the movie. Luckily, Kat has included a link that clues me in a bit. Unfortunately for her, it’s in the context of telling us why this is now the bane of her existence.
