Governor Bredesen has spent much time on the national circuit raising his profile. Murmurs wafting around the state question if he’s on the V-P short list, or maybe a Cabinet pick? Health and Human Services?

But which candidate? Hillary? Barack?

Governor Phil Bredesen and First Lady Andrea Conte hosted their first dinner party in the almost fully renovated Executive Residence inviting over former governors or their progeny for a look at how the place is shaping up:

The overprivileged occupants of Curtiswood Lane, unfamiliar with the sound of the word no, have met their match in Tennessee first lady Andrea Conte, and weird things are happening in the neighborhood as she digs a big hole in the front yard of the governor’s mansion for Conservation Hall. Cats are talking, one neighbor is throwing hissy fits on the street, and another is fretting that Osama bin Laden has placed “Bredesen’s Bunker” on his list of targets.

A group of Republican legislators lined up outside of the Executive Residence to stare down a bulldozer, staging a press conference at the behest of one of their wealthiest donors.
