Monday I was bored with my usual easy-run listenings, so I busted out a soundtrack from three years ago. I found it highly entertaining, not just because I haven’t heard some of these songs in a while, but because of the memories they brought back of that time: Spring 2005.

 Reports of the New Pornographers’ demise are greatly exaggerated, if their Friday show at the Cannery Ballroom is any indication.
Despite missing core members Dan Bejar (on tour with Destroyer) and Neko Case (sidelined with a fractured ankle), A.C. Newman led
the Pornos through a rollicking Friday night set heavy on its brand of tuneful pop songs.

First up: Blogstar. Go check out this incredibly great looking blog.  It belongs to my friend Chad Jarnagin and was designed and built by my booking guy/road manager Ben Stewart (who will have a blog soon for me to link to often).

I love the design because it’s simple but not generic.  Clean but still a little grungy.  It says “I’m thirty-ish but yes, that is an electric guitar in my hands and yes, that is my Marshall amp peeling the flesh from your face right now.
