As you may be aware, a shooting occurred between yesterday and this morning on Castlegate Drive in District 29. Below is the news release provided by Commander Michelle Richter of the Hermitage Precinct. I will provide you update as more information is released.

Well, The Little Red Haired Girl finally did it. She finished her master’s thesis, which means that we spent the last week up in Boston attending Commencement activities (and spending some time with wedding planning while we were up there).

Barack Obama filled in for Ted Kennedy at the Wesleyan University commencement. Normally they have 8000 people but attendance more than tripled after it was announced that Obama would speak.

President Bush has been chosen to speak at Furman University for graduation. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of tickets and not only that, several people are asking that they not be forced to listen to

This morning, I gave my last final exam to my last group of kids at this particular high school. My only real emotions at their departure when the bell rang were of the positive kind--sophomores, I gotta say, are not my favorite.

I've been cleaning up a lot around here lately, trying to make room for the fiance, who's moving here when we get married in late June. So far, I've cleaned off one shelf of a bookshelf [still!], sold my CD player and speakers, and gotten rid of a lot of miscellaneous junk that I don't really want him to replace with junk of his own.

I went to the UT Knoxville graduation today. It was pleasant until it started and the guest speaker (Lorin Crabtree) began to speak. After a few quick jokes the political spew started. From the "Fact" of global warming to the war to a government that refuses to invest in education (I am sure Phil was appreciative of that) on and on it went.

Graduation was last Saturday and with the exception of a very small summer term group all the students have packed up and gone.  I think there might be one dormitory open and that's only because the baseball team is playing in their regional tournament.  Both the campus deli and the dining hall have closed.  One could find more food in Mo
