Oct. 1 marks the 100th birthday of the Model T Ford. Originally priced at about $850, Tin Lizzy ushered automobiles into the mainstream and helped shape a world of $4 gas, gridlock, cheesy bumper stickers and drive-time talk radio.

Despite having been sick for more than a week (grr), I finally made myself do yard work yesterday. As I said, I’d been sick for over a week, and the lawn was ready to be mowed the last day I was well. It was time, despite how bad I felt.

Confession time: I’m addicted to The Hills. I know, it sucks, I suck, lame lame lame. Whatever. I don’t do drugs or drink (excessively. ok, but not very often.) or kick puppies. This is my vice. Get off my back.

Thanks for all the nice responses.  Seems like we will keep plugging along here on the ‘heap … which gives me a renewed sense of energy.  I am thinking of making a gallery and blogging change in the future (moving to Apple’s MobileMe) … sometime mid July or so, which I think will be a better platform for us.

The Food and Drug Administration has expanded its warning to consumers nationwide that a salmonellosis outbreak has been linked to consumption of certain raw, red tomatoes.

Yep. It has hit Tennessee, too.

Don't count on any tomatoes on your burgers at McDonald's, at least for a while.

Ditto for O'Charley's and Burger King, Outback and Taco Bell, among other Nashville eateries.

And supermarkets such as Kroger have pulled some varieties of tomatoes from shelves as a precaution.

I am not a political blogger. Right or left, there is plenty of dumbassery in either wing.

I don't usually care about the illegals. The show up...they work hard...they have disgusting sanitary habits. We all know this.

However, there is a time and place to see these people.

A construction site? Sure.
