My family was awoken to rumbling of thunder around 3 o'clock this morning. It became more numerous with frequent lightning strikes. I made the decision to get our 7 month-old out of her crib. It was a good decision as the lightning was striking close around us with loud booms of thunder.

We are watching Severe Weather break out over Arkansas this afternoon. They are currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the state and several counties in SW Arkansas are under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

Heavy rain and thunder are the name of the game this morning.
As I type (just before 8:00 AM) a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for northern Alabama, with hail and high winds the primary threat. Click here to view the current watch boxes from the Storm Prediction Center.
