I hate that I've been too busy to post. I also hate that two posts in a row are about less than awesome experiences on the bus. So before i get started, let me again say that i've been very pleased with how safe, clean, and overall how reliable my bus riding experience has been so far (the washboard streets that are 5th Ave and Lafayette not withstanding).

I attended the second meeting with members of the Metro Health Department's peeps charged with providing mobile screening and vaccinations for children in the Nashville area.  Talk about a caring, compassionate and driven group of folks!

As you may recall from my earlier post, the goals were lofty:

For all the lip service paid to "protecting the children," and "no child left behind," we don't spend much time, effort or money on or about kids who are homeless. I realize they are typically difficult to find but that should never serve as the excuse as to why we aren't able to provide more and better resources to assist them.

Josh Osborne testified today before the State Legislature about making child abuse sentencing more stringent.  He was rescued three years ago after having been chained to a bed and starved… he weighed about 48 pounds when he was liberated from his father and stepmother.
