President Bush and the McCain campaign are beating a dead horse these days and it is called the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I'll be honest, this has been one of the most anti-climactic elections I can remember since the sales tax referendum a few years ago. There have been no real debates, the charges leveled against each other (outside of Memphis of course) have been relatively mild, and the lack of funds has produced lackluster television advertisements.

A recently released report from the Congressional Research Service estimates that the federal government could collect $191 billion in corporate income taxes and oil royalties over the next 30 years if it were to open just one small corner of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in remote northern Alaska to oil drilling.

TigerHawk notes the rise of "gas pump conservatives" - liberals who now support increased domestic oil drilling, especially offshore and in the tiny corner of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge that was set aside in the 1970s for future oil exploration.
